Fresh Strawberry Granita
Ingredients:
Serves: 4-6
- 1 1/2 C. Fresh Strawberries – cut up
- 2 Tbsp. Fresh Basil Leaves – chopped
- 2 Tsp. Fresh Lemon juice
- 3 Tbsp. Sugar
Instructions:
- Slice the strawberries.
- Put the berries, sugar, lemon juice, and basil in a food processor or blender.
- Puree until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a container and place in the freezer.
- After it starts to freeze, scrape with a fork. Continue this process a few times as it freezes over a few hours.
- The crystals will appear dry after a while. Stop scraping – you are finished!
Serving suggestions:
Try serving your Fresh Strawberry Granita in a wine or martini glass with a sprig of basil for garnish.
For a delicious Granita Martini, pour some chilled vodka over the top.
Another option is to make some Limoncello Cream to spoon on the top.
Limoncello Cream
- 3/4 C. Heavy Cream
- 1 Tbsp. Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Limoncello
- Mix the heavy cream, sugar and Limoncello in a bowl.
- Whip until soft peaks form.
- Spoon on the top of your granita!
